BLOOM LONGEVITY LABS

A Revolutionary Approach to Beauty, Longevity and Wellness at Grantley Hall's Three Graces Spa

We are excited to soon be welcoming Dr Lubna to the Three Graces Spa at Grantley Hall. Dr Lubna is a former NHS surgeon, with extensive plastic surgery experience. She is also the founder of Time to Bloom, a beauty and wellness clinic in North Yorkshire. Bloom Longevity Labs founder, Dr Lubna, is offering a range of non-invasive treatments available to book on the first Wednesday of every month at Grantley Hall between 09:00 and 20:00.

Her monthly residency will include biomimetic aesthetic treatments, a principle aligning beauty with natural principles.

Ahead of welcoming Dr Lubna to the Three Graces Spa, we asked her some questions to better understand Dr Lubna’s training and the practice of biomimetic aesthetics…

Please tell me about yourself and your background, what interests you most about working in your field?

I trained and practiced in plastic and reconstructive surgery, undergoing rigorous training in specialist posts during my time in the NHS. I am a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and hold qualifications in lifestyle and longevity medicine. Longevity transcends the traditional approach of concealing visible signs of ageing, aiming instead for the pro-active prevention of the aging process itself.

With a passion for wellness and preventative health, I have a truly holistic approach to health and beauty and I passionately believe that true beauty comes from within. We create beauty by enhancing the health of individuals.

Can you explain what ‘biomimetic aesthetics’ means and how does it differ from traditional practices?

Biomimetics or biomimicry takes cues from nature and natural biological processes. There is a large popularity and availability of aesthetic procedures like fillers and toxins. In a highly unregulated industry, these procedures have become led by trends, resulting in the homogeneity of people’s aesthetics.

A shifting paradigm has emerged within the realm of aesthetic practice, driven by an increasing understanding that youth and beauty extend beyond mere surface appearance. I firmly believe that preserving our individual beauty is the way forward.

What results can clients expect to receive after treatments?

Treatments at Bloom Longevity are all about empowerment and embracing the aging process. Rejuvenating facials and wellness therapies offer a harmonious blend of positive lifestyle practices and personalised treatments. This combines the latest technologies rooted in science to transform your skin.

The current beauty and cosmetic industry help us 'appear' younger with freezing, plumping and endless creams. At Bloom we can help you become younger at a cellular level, flipping the switch on ageing.

You advocate a rebellion against anti-aging. Why do you feel so passionately about this?

I want to explode the myth that ageing is all about decline! Ageing happens from birth, if we do it well, we can 'age less'. The cosmetic industry has long focused on the short-term improvements of the visual aging signs, ignoring the root cause.

The prevailing narrative in the beauty industry has been about anti-aging, which is commercially driven and targeted primarily towards women. The term anti-ageing doesn't make sense. We start ageing as soon as we're born, and when has anyone ever successfully 'anti-aged'? We want to disrupt the status quo and show our clients we can age well and feel good at any age.

Beauty is more than just skin deep. With increased focus on the external cosmetic side of ageing we have long neglected the importance of our health. I believe when we feel good, we look good, it is the inside out approach.

What impact do you hope your practice will have on the broader beauty industries?

My mission is to harness the scientific knowledge of aging, to empower everyone to see the beauty in health. It’s important to take control of our health and wellbeing now to ensure wellness as we age. Adopting preventative health measures helps us feel good, and as a result, we look good - it's a win-win!

What are the most common misconceptions about skin health and how do you address them?

Most of us have been taught that it's what you put on your skin that matters. However, skin health starts from within and lifestyle practices like stress management, nutrition, movement and sleep have a greater impact.

Skin is one of our largest organs - it matters. It gives away our age, our health and is what makes us unique - we need to celebrate and nourish it. We know much about the biology of our skin. However, we are just at the beginning of understanding how we can influence it inside-out. Our skin is a protective barrier by nature, designed to stop anything penetrating beneath the surface. True skin regeneration happens deep within the dermis. If you really want to influence your skin, this is where you start! This is the reverse skin-care method.

What advice do you have for individuals who are wanting to integrate positive lifestyle changes for improved skin health?

Often, we forget that simple lifestyle measures can have the greatest positive impact on our skin and overall health. Good nourishment with whole foods, avoiding overly processed foods and sugar, movement and exercise, managing stress and consistent, high-quality sleep. Prioritising long-term health improvements over quick fixes ensures sustainable health benefits.
